Genealogy assistance

Genealogy assistance is provided in 4 different ways:

  1. request by telephone; 207/743-6651 limited to no more than 2 names with some idea of the date of the event.
  2. request by mail; Town Clerk, 19 Danforth St., Norway ME 04268
  3. request by email; sboyce@megalink.net
  4. In person at Town Hall

The cost of a certified copy is $7.00 to $10.00.
An extensive search of records will be subject to
an hourly fee.

We accept checks and cash only in advance
of issuing any certificates.

The "Great Fire of Norway" occurred in 1894.
Therefore, many town records were lost.

  4. * They have an excellent collection of filmed vital records, including many old town records, and the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 U.S. Census enumeration schedules. The Archives also has excellent facilities for researchers. The Maine State Library, located in the same building, has an extensive collection of published family genealogies.
